Day 37, Round 2. Plyo. I have finally added Creatine, starting today. We will see how that goes. As I said before, I had changed my protein supplement routine, and wanted to see how that went before making other changes.

I have made one major modification to the p90x program in this second round. First, let me state that I think P90x is a 7-day-a-week program, that stretching on day 7 is extremely important, and believe it is one the things that has kept me injury free. That being said, however, I also think YOGA is just too long. So I pause at about 59 minutes remaining, take some water, and fast forward about 20 minutes (to the leg extension right before crane, then follow through to the end. I feel I get a good workout, and 70 minutes (instead of 90) is just more manageable.

On day 3 of round 2, 87 more days just seemed so daunting, I wasn't sure whether I had it in me. Now that I'm well into phase 2, it's just another part of the day, and most of the time I like forward to the workouts. PUSH PLAY!

Daniel, hope you and everyone else are bringing it! I am now in Round 2, Phase 1, recovery week. I changed my supplement routine up a little in the third week, with good results in the Legs&Back routine. I now combine the Boost shake with 1/2 protein bar prior to workout, then a whole bar after (EAS). Plan on re-adding 6STAR as a mid-day thing later. I'm definitey not eating enough, since I have dropped 5 more pounds (lost 1% body fat, gained 1% muscle mass). But I am doing my own form of doubles this round (HIIT- hills, runup, walkdown, repeat until half dead!) 2-3 times per week. No injuries, knock on wood. PUSH PLAY!!

Women lack the ability to grow large muscles, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. Most of the female bodybuilders are taking supplements to increase their testosterone levels to get muscles that big. It won't take a lot of muscle to increase your metabolism, just add in some light resistance training every few days. But this article isn't meant to say that you can't lose fat without building muscle. You can burn fat just by doing cardio, sure, but adding muscle will keep your metabolism running higher all the time.

-Dorian

P.S. I've got an article coming up tomorrow about just this topic if you're interested.

Sorry to disappoint you, but everything in this article is accurate. I'm not making this up because I feel like it. If you have a calorie deficit of about 500 calories, you're going to lose fat - for about 2 weeks. Then your body will adjust to the deficit and you'll plateau. If you keep increasing the deficit or pushing you body well beyond your calorie intake it will turn to muscle as a source of energy. It's called catabolism. I'm sorry you don't like the article, Elishia, but everything in it has been researched to be accurate whether you like the information or not.

This is very true! The biggest challenge I have in fitness and weight loss centers aroudn patience. I want results now. I have been doing p90X for 2 weeks- yet I could swear its been two months!

I'm such an all or nothing person, it's really great to try and slow down and focus on staying motivated past the first month.

Is this a joke? I can't wait to see what this person has to say about raising your metabolism. I guess I am so confused because he says that you can't lose weight by a calorie deficit. And what on earth is this about anorexic people have a body fat percentage of 30% and that's why they think they are fat? No it's actually a psychological illness that has nothing to do with fat. And if a person had a body fat percentage of over a quarter of their body, don't you think the fat would be obvious. Rather most anorexics are mostly bones. This article has to be a joke! Oh and by the way your body does burn fat when it has a calorie deficit. It does not devour all of your muscle first, and then move on to burning fat. If you starve yourself you will lose muscle but if you have a calorie deficit of 500-1000 calories per day you will lose fat!!!

Steve, I completely understand about the soreness. Today is day 3 of being back on the P90X wagon and I can barely move. About the creatine, you're right it is going to dehydrate you. If I didn't say that in the videos, I should have. You are going to need to drink more water when you're on creatine no matter what age you are. You also need to be sure to cycle your creatine use (three weeks on, three weeks off) that way your body doesn't build up a tolerance. Can't remember if I mentioned that or not.

Daniel, caught your new videos...one thing about that creatine...seems that if it pulls water into your muscles, it's taking it from somewhere else, so one should up one's water intake even more to compensate, especially for an older person like myself. Anyway, I am into my second week of Round 2, Phase 1. In the two weeks I took off, I could not go cold turkey (just as you can form bad habits, you can form good ones). So each day I rotated two of my favorite workouts: PLYO (my absolute favorite)and AB RIPPER X. I stayed away from the pullup and weight routines. Even though I went through 90 days with decent results, I was not prepared for how sore I would be all over again. That first Legs&Back -- two days later I was still sore.
